Aluminum vs SteelSEC 01 / 07

Which metal makes sense for your home?

Both are tough, low-maintenance, and built for our climate. The honest difference comes down to impact resistance and budget. We'll walk you through it, no pressure either direction.

Aluminum siding

Light & rustproof
  • Won't rust, even where moisture is a concern.
  • Lightweight and budget-friendly to install.
  • Holds a baked-on finish in many colors.
  • Softer metal, so it can dent from hail or impact.

Steel siding

Toughest impact resistance
  • Stronger and far more dent-resistant than aluminum.
  • Stands up to hail and flying debris.
  • Modern profiles for a clean, contemporary look.
  • Heavier and a higher upfront cost than aluminum.
What We DoSEC 02 / 07

Install, replace, repair, and storm recovery.

One crew for the whole exterior, from a fresh install to the hailstorm claim years later.

Build new

New metal siding

Aluminum or steel installed over a proper moisture barrier, the detail that protects the sheathing.

Replace

Siding replacement

Old or failing siding removed, sheathing inspected, and new metal installed clean.

Fix it

Siding repair

Dented, loose, or storm-torn panels repaired, and we're honest when repair beats replacement.

After the storm

Storm, hail & insurance

We document the damage and handle the insurance claim alongside any roof damage.

Why Metal SidingSEC 03 / 07

Less to worry about, year after year.

Metal solves a few problems that wood and even vinyl can't, which is why a lot of Wisconsin homeowners make the switch.

Tough & long-lasting

Stands up to wind and weather without warping or cracking.

Non-combustible

Metal doesn't feed a fire the way some siding materials can.

Pest, rot & woodpecker proof

No rot, no insects, and nothing for woodpeckers to drill into.

Low maintenance

Baked-on color holds for years with little more than a rinse.

Storm & Hail DamageSEC 04 / 07
Hail damage in WisconsinHail & wind · WI & IA

Hail hits siding too, not just the roof.

The same storm that dents your roof dents your siding. Most homeowner's policies cover hail and wind damage to siding, but only if the claim is documented properly. We inspect and photograph the siding, include it in the same adjuster scope as the roof, and make sure the claim covers the full exterior.

  • Full siding damage inspection and photos
  • Siding included in the same claim as the roof
  • You pay your deductible, we handle the rest
  • Repair or full replacement, whatever it needs
Installed RightSEC 05 / 07

The part you never see decides how long it lasts.

Good metal siding fails early when it's installed over a bad moisture barrier or with no room to move. We install a proper moisture barrier first, leave the right clearances, and finish the details, because that's what keeps water out of the sheathing for the long haul.

  • Proper moisture barrier before any panel goes on
  • Sheathing inspected and repaired as needed
  • Our own crews, never subcontracted
  • A clear timeline and written estimate up front

Q.01Aluminum or steel siding, which is better?+
Neither is "better" across the board. Aluminum is lighter, rustproof, and easier on the budget, but it dents more easily. Steel is stronger and far more dent and hail resistant, at a higher upfront cost. If hail is a regular problem where you are, steel is worth the conversation. We'll walk through both at your free estimate.
Q.02Does metal siding dent from hail?+
Aluminum can dent from larger hail and hard impacts. Steel is much more resistant. If your home takes a hailstorm, we inspect the siding closely, and dented panels are usually covered by insurance when the damage is documented properly.
Q.03Will steel siding rust?+
Modern steel siding comes with protective coatings designed to resist corrosion for the long term. Rust generally only becomes a concern if the coating is breached and left unaddressed, which is part of why quality installation and repairs matter.
Q.04Is metal siding a good choice for Wisconsin winters?+
Yes. Metal handles freeze-thaw cycles without the cracking some materials show in extreme cold, and it won't rot from snow and ice exposure. Installed over a proper moisture barrier, it's a durable choice for our climate.
Q.05Does homeowner's insurance cover hail-damaged siding?+
Most standard policies cover hail and wind damage to siding. Coverage depends on your policy type, ACV depreciates by age, RCV pays full replacement minus your deductible. We review your coverage with you during the free inspection. Storm damage details →
Q.06What does metal siding cost, and is financing available?+
Metal siding generally costs more than vinyl and varies with the material, profile, home size, and condition of what's underneath, so we give you a written number after a free on-site estimate rather than a guess online. Financing is available for qualified projects.
