Why It MattersSEC 01 / 07
Home exterior eaves and guttersProtecting the foundation

Where the water lands is what damages the house.

A gutter that dumps water right at the wall is almost as bad as no gutter at all. When downspouts let roof water pool against the house, it works its way toward the basement, erodes the soil, and rots the fascia. Good drainage moves that water well clear of the foundation.

  • Water pooling or seeping toward the basement
  • Eroded soil and washed-out mulch or beds
  • Overflowing downspouts and rotting fascia
  • The fix: water aimed 6+ feet from the foundation
What We DoSEC 02 / 07

Downspouts and drainage, done as a system.

We don't just hang a downspout and walk away. We follow the water from the gutter to where it needs to end up.

Two Ways To Move WaterSEC 03 / 07

Above-ground or underground?

There's a simple way and a more permanent way to carry water off. We'll recommend what fits your yard, your grade, and your budget.

Above-ground

Simple & affordable
  • Downspout extensions and splash blocks.
  • Lower cost and easy to adjust later.
  • Visible on the surface and can be in the way of mowing.
  • Moves water a few feet from the wall.

Underground drain lines

Cleaner & more permanent
  • Buried pipe from the downspout to a discharge point.
  • Carries water well clear of the foundation.
  • Nothing on the surface to mow around.
  • A bigger project, so a higher upfront cost.

Buckshot crew working on a home exteriorOur own crews

Sized, placed, and secured so it actually works.

A downspout in the wrong spot, too small for the roof, or barely fastened just moves the problem around. We size downspouts to the roof area they drain, place them where the water needs to go, and secure and seal every connection, all by our own crews.

  • Downspouts sized to the roof area they drain
  • Water directed at least 6 feet from the foundation
  • Seamless integration with new or existing gutters
  • Color-matched to your trim, copper available
Who It's ForSEC 05 / 07

If water is ending up in the wrong place.

Drainage problems show up in different ways. If any of these sound familiar, it's worth a look.

Damp or wet basements

Roof water pooling at the wall and finding its way in.

Erosion & washouts

Soil, mulch, or beds washing out under the downspouts.

New gutter projects

Getting new gutters and want the drainage done right too.

Property & ag buildings

Larger roofs that shed serious water in a storm.

Q.01How far should downspouts move water from the house?+
As a rule of thumb, you want roof water discharged at least 6 feet from the foundation, farther on a yard that slopes back toward the house. We set up extensions or underground lines to get the water out to where it won't come back.
Q.02Will better downspouts fix my wet basement?+
Often it helps a lot, because a surprising amount of basement water starts as roof water dumped right at the wall. We'll be straight with you though: drainage handles the water coming off your roof. If there's another source, like grading or groundwater, we'll tell you what we see rather than promise a dry basement we can't guarantee.
Q.03Above-ground extensions or underground drain lines?+
Extensions and splash blocks are simple and affordable but sit on the surface. Underground drain lines carry water farther, leave nothing to mow around, and look cleaner, at a higher upfront cost. We recommend based on your grade, yard, and budget.
Q.04Can you add downspouts to my existing gutters?+
Yes. We add or relocate downspouts on existing gutters, match the color to your trim, and make sure the new outlet is sized and placed for the roof area it drains.
Q.05My downspout keeps clogging or pulling loose, can you fix it?+
Yes. We re-secure detached downspouts, clear clogs, and fix poor connections. If the run is undersized or badly placed, we'll point that out so it doesn't keep happening.
Q.06What does it cost, and is financing available?+
It depends on how many downspouts, whether you want above-ground or underground drainage, and your gutters, so we give you a written number after a free on-site estimate. Financing is available for qualified projects, often combined with a gutter or siding job.
