THE GAF MASTER ELITE CERTIFICATION

The GAF Master Elite Installer is the pinnacle of certifications offered by GAF, one of North America’s largest roofing manufacturers.  Less than 2% of all roofing contractors in North America achieve this elite status, making it a highly sought-after and respected credential.

GAF has stringent requirements for contractors seeking Master Elite status. These are designed to ensure that only the most reputable and skilled professionals qualify:

  • Experience: Contractors must have a minimum of 7 years of proven experience in the roofing industry.
  • Proper Licensing: They must be properly licensed in all states where licensing is required for roofing contractors.
  • Adequate Insurance: A minimum of $1 million in general liability insurance is mandatory, along with valid workers’ compensation. This protects both the homeowner and the contractor in case of accidents.
  • Excellent Reputation: A proven reputation for quality services in their community is crucial. GAF checks references from customers and suppliers, and contractors must maintain a satisfactory standing with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) with no unresolved claims or complaints. A spotless 100% BBB rating is often cited as a requirement.
  • Financial Stability: Contractors need to demonstrate a clean financial record and a good credit rating, with no liens.
  • Ongoing Training and Education: GAF Master Elite Contractors are committed to continuous learning. They must participate in regular training sessions and workshops provided by GAF, staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, advanced roofing techniques, and product installation best practices.
  • Exclusive Use of GAF Systems: Master Elite Contractors are expected to install GAF roofing systems exclusively, ensuring that customers receive high-quality products designed to work together seamlessly.
  • Comprehensive Exam: To achieve Master Elite status, contractors must pass a comprehensive exam that tests their knowledge of GAF roofing systems and installation best practices.
  • Annual Re-Certification: The Master Elite status is not a one-time achievement. Contractors must meet specific annual requirements, including earning “Rewards Squares,” “Warranty Squares,” and “Learning Credits,” and undergo periodic inspections by GAF to maintain their certification.
