GAF has stringent requirements for contractors seeking Master Elite status. These are designed to ensure that only the most reputable and skilled professionals qualify:
- Experience: Contractors must have a minimum of 7 years of proven experience in the roofing industry.
- Proper Licensing: They must be properly licensed in all states where licensing is required for roofing contractors.
- Adequate Insurance: A minimum of $1 million in general liability insurance is mandatory, along with valid workers’ compensation. This protects both the homeowner and the contractor in case of accidents.
- Excellent Reputation: A proven reputation for quality services in their community is crucial. GAF checks references from customers and suppliers, and contractors must maintain a satisfactory standing with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) with no unresolved claims or complaints. A spotless 100% BBB rating is often cited as a requirement.
